A child killer calmly told police how he had taken another youngster to the scene of his heinous crime just days before savagely murdering Nikki Allan.
Footage of David Boyd being interviewed by police showed him described helping a boy get through a window into the derelict building where he would go on to murder the seven-year-old schoolgirl.
In the clips, released after he was found guilty of smashing Nikki's head with a brick before repeatedly plunging a knife into her chest, he sounds calm although his leg can be seen bouncing nervously under a table at times.

Boyd described how he helped the young boy get into a 6ft high window of the Old Exchange building, in Sunderland. While there was no suggestion he was up to anything sinister with the lad, days later he lured Nikki away as she waited for her mum outside a pub.
She was seen "skipping to her death" behind Boyd and appeared "comfortable in the company of her killer" as the paedophile took her to the back of the building for a "nefarious" purpose. Something happened which caused Nikki to lose her shoes and coat and she was heard screaming.
Boyd then put her through the window and smashed her skull with a brick, stabbed her in the chest dozens of times then dragged her by the ankles down into the basement and dumped her, hoping no one would find her.
For years, Boyd thought he had got away with murder and police even charged innocent man George Heron back in the 1990s and he was cleared. Advances in DNA technology revealed Boyd's DNA was on Nikki's clothes in the areas he would have touched in order to lift her into the building.
Jurors at Newcastle Crown Court convicted him of murder, sparking wild cheering and shouting in the public gallery from Nikki's family. The 55-year-old will be sentenced on May 23 and faces a life sentence.
