Watch the moment two Italian fighter jets escort an American Airlines flight to Rome after a bomb threat on board.

The American Airline flight from New York to New Delhi was forced to land in Italy on Sunday (23 February).

The plane turned around over the Caspian Sea.

Aeronautica Militare shared footage from inside the cockpit of one of the fighter jets as it intercepted the flight. In a statement, they said: “In the afternoon two Euro fighters of Aeronautica Military took off on alert to identify and escort a commercial aircraft headed to Delhi which had reversed course towards Fiumicino airport (RM) due to a report of a presumed explosive device on board.

American Airlines said Flight 292 “was inspected by law enforcement” after landing at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport and “cleared to re-depart.”
