Watch Liverpool vs Newcastle United in the final of the 2025 Carabao Cup on Sunday March 16, with all the details here on live streams and TV channels, including free coverage in the UK and how you can watch from anywhere with a VPN.
It's a mouth-watering final in prospect at Wembley on Sunday. Liverpool are the defending champions and the all-time EFL Cup record holders with 10 titles, while Newcastle are searching for their first piece of silverware of any description since 1955.
Liverpool may be running away with the Premier League but they've just exited the Champions League at the hands of PSG and earlier in the year were dumped out of the FA Cup by Plymouth, so cup confidence is hardly high. Newcastle lost when the two sides met recently in the Premier League but they've lit up the Carabao Cup and look hungry to end that long wait for a trophy.
A cracking contest awaits at Wembley and you won't want to miss it – read on for all the details on how to watch the Carabao Cup final online and on TV, wherever you are in the world.

Liverpool vs Newcastle Match Preview for Carabao Cup final
No team in the history of the EFL Cup has lifted the trophy more times than Liverpool, with 10 titles to their name, including four on the bounce from 1981-1984. The last came just 12 months ago, when the Reds beat Chelsea 1-0 thanks to an extra-time goal from their captain Virgil van Dijk. Liverpool have been runners-up in the competition four times, which coupled with their extensive involvement at the pointy end of all the other domestic and European cups, gives them a massive advantage in terms of final experience over Newcastle.
The Magpies have never won the EFL Cup. They have won the FA Cup on six occasions but the last of those was way back in 1955 and it remains their last piece of silverware. They’ve had good times and bad times since then, but the influx of Saudi money has raised expectations at St James’ Park and they won’t want that embarrassing 70-year wait to creep much higher. They might have done so a couple of years ago; Newcastle have twice contested an EFL Cup final and the last of those was in 2023, when they went down disappointingly to two first-half goals from Manchester United.
In terms of their paths to the final, Liverpool have had to overcome Premier League opposition in each of the four rounds, but Newcastle, despite bing pitted against Wimbledon in the first round, have arguably had the tougher draw, having to come past Chelsea and then Arsenal over two legs.
Eddie Howe’s men were fearless against Arsenal home and away, playing some of their boldest, most thrilling football, and they’ll hope to muster that sort of performance again at Wembley on the big occasion. The absence of winger Anthony Gordon is a big blow in that respect, but the fact tat Alexander Isak is fit again will send confidence through the team. The Swedish striker has been lethal this season and is pivotal to Newcastle’s success. He was absent when Newcastle faced Liverpool just a couple of weeks ago, and slumped to a meek 2-0 defeat. That result would suggest the odds are stacked in Liverpool’s favour, but with Isak leading the line, Newcastle are a different side.
That win over Newcastle came during a run of games that has all-but sealed Liverpool the Premier League title. However, their form hasn’t been overwhelming. They’ve won three on the bounce now but second-placed Arsenal have slipped up three times in a row to recede from the picture. Elsewhere, Liverpool have looked vulnerable, not least in the Champions League when they were dominated by PSG in the first leg of their last-16 clash and then sent packing on penalties in the second. They were also dumped out of the FA Cup by Championship strugglers Plymouth earlier this year.
And yet, Liverpool possess the quality to score goals at the drop of a hat. Mohamed Salah is q case in point. The Egyptian hasn’t been quite as electric in recent years but he has been prolific and clinical beyond belief, with 44 goals involvements to his name amid a tumbling set of records.
If both teams play to their best, it’s set to be a thrilling Carabao Cup final and not one to be missed.
Liverpool vs Newcastle team news
Liverpool are without Trent Alexander-Arnold, who had to be substituted off with a knee problem during the mid-week Champions League game against PSG. Right back deputy Conor Bradley is also injured, leaving Arne Slot with a headache on that side of defence.
The welcome news for the Reds is that Cody Gakpo is in line to feature more prominently after returning from the bench against PSG. Liverpool also have Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Mohamed Salah all available for the three spots in the front line.
The big miss for Newcastle is Anthony Gordon, who was sent off against Brighton in the Premier League a couple of weeks ago, resulting in a suspension for the final of this competition. It will be a bitter pill to swallow for the Liverpudlian who would have been facing the team he supported growing up.
Isak is back in the squad and Howe appears keen to use him fully, but he has only had 80 minutes of play against West Ham last weekend since coming back from his groin injury. Lewis Hall has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury, while Sven Botman is unavailable once again after picking up another injury.
