King Charles III has arrived at Buckingham Palace to be meeted by crowds of well-wishers before he addresses a nation in mourning over the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The new monarch earlier touched down at RAF Northolt with the Queen Consort, Camilla, shortly after 1.30pm after travelling from Balmoral where the Queen died peacefully on Thursday afternoon.
A pre-recorded televised address is expected to air around 6pm. At the same time a public service will be held at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral, and will be attended by Prime Minister Liz Truss.
