WATCH: Karun Nair, India's triple centurion in Tests, smashes 40-ball century

NEW DELHI: Karnataka batsman Karun Nair, the only Indian batsman to score a triple century after Virender Sehwag, smashed a belligerent century off just 40 balls during the second semi-final match of Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2023 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.

Playing for Mysuru Warriors, Karun went hammer and tongs and scored a scintillating 107 not out off just 42 balls against Gulbarga Mystics. His knock was studded with 7 fours and 9 gigantic hits.

Batting first, Mysuru Warriors posted a mammoth 248 for 2 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Karun-led team restricted Gulbarga Mystics at 212/8 and won the match by 36 runs.

WATCH:

Karun holds the record of scoring a triple ton (303 not out) against England in the Chennai Test in 2016. Karun is the only second Indian batsman to touch 300-mark in Tests. Sehwag has two triple centuries in Tests - 309 vs Pakistan in Multan, 2004, and 319 vs South Africa in Chennai, 2008.

Karun has played 6 Tests in his career and scored 374 runs at an average of 62.33. He has also played 2 ODIs in his career.

Karun last played for India was in the Dharamsala Test against Australia in 2017.
