Watch jaw-dropping moment Arthur's Seat otter catches pigeon leaving onlookers stunned

A local woman has captured the jaw-dropping moment an otter caught a pigeon in Edinburgh

Arthur's Seat resident otter is fast becoming a local celebrity in the area - and this latest clip is sure to boost its notoriety.

Erica Linklater-Mclennan, along with others passersby, was left stunned when she saw the otter making off with a pigeon.

She explains the "incredibly rare" footage was taken at Dunsapie Loch, where the otter is thought to have recently found a new home after Queen's Drive temporarily shut to traffic.

She said to Edinburgh Live: "This elusive nocturnal animal would normally be sleeping or resting in its holt or den during daylight hours but here it has ventured out in this urban environment in broad daylight amongst walkers, cyclists and runners to go hunting for it’s prey.

"Not only is it emerging from the lake having caught something, but in this footage we can see it’s managed to snatch a fully grown pigeon from the banks of the lake."

Erica said there was a buzz among onlookers who loved watching it hunt and frolick around - but the otter remained completely oblivious to its new audience.
