Jake Paul said he would knock out Andre August in the first round, and that’s exactly what he did.
Facing only the second genuine boxer of his career, Paul (8-1, 5 KOs) took care of business in emphatic fashion when he landed a dramatic uppercut that sent August (10-2-1, 5 KOs) crashing to the canvas. August rolled to his side and attempted to stand up, but he simply couldn’t get back to his feet before referee Chris Young reached the count of 10, giving Paul the victory at the 2:32 mark of Round 1.
“I said first-round knockout all week,” Paul said afterward. “I manifested this. This is the power of manifestation. … I set up my shot, and he went night night.”
Paul vs. August took place Friday at Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, Fla. It headlined a full lineup of fights that streamed on DAZN.
