WATCH: Is Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum a legitimate MVP candidate?

Is Boston Celtics All-Star forward Jayson Tatum legitimately a candidate for the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the 2021-22 regular season? With his elite performance last week that saw him hang 54 points on the Brooklyn Nets in a 126 – 120 home victory just after cruising to a win against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies, it’s clear he is among the top players in the league.

Tatum has of course been a central part of the Celtics’ surprise resurgence in the second half of the season after Boston started things off on the wrong foot under new head coach Ime Udoka. But has the St. Louis native shown enough in recent weeks to be worthy of inclusion in any serious debate over the league’s MVP race?

The host of the NBC Sports Boston “Celtics Talk” podcast Chris Forsberg is joined by guest John Tomase as the two discuss just how good Tatum has become as we get into the meat of this season’s stretch run.

Watch the clip embedded above to get their takes on the Duke product’s chances to take home this coveted piece of hardware.
