This is the moment that saw an ugly brawl kick-off at Tynecastle after Hearts and Hibs locked horns in a last day decider.
The Hibees needed to beat their rivals to overtake them in the table and book a place in the third qualifying round of the Europa Conference League. But despite playing against ten men for over an hour after Alex Cochrane’s red card allowed Kevin Nisbet to cable out Yutaro Oda’s opener with a free-kick, they coouldn't find a way past their neighbours.
And the frustration seemed to get a bit too much for Lee Johnson, who appeared to hit out at opposite number Steven Naismith as the interim Gorgie boss made his way onto the park after shaking Johnson’s hand. Both benches then piled in as Rocky Bushiri tried to take on Hearts goalkeeping coach Paul Gallacher, while Jam tarts assistant Gordon Forrest let Johnson know he’d seen what he’d done.
The players still on the park followed suit amongst themselves. CJ Egan Riley and Toby Sibbick appeared to get a grip of each other as club and security staff tried desperately to restore some order as teammates from either side waded in to defend their colleagues in scenes “no-one wants to see,” we keep being told.
It was scrappier then that at any point during the 100-plus minutes that were played, which is saying something given the lack of quality on show from both sides. The aftermath saw Johnson sent off, which means he’ll be facing a touchline ban on the opening day of next season. Maybe just as well should the fixture computer pit the capital foes against each other.
Bushiri, Gallacher and Hearts' sub keeper Ross Stewart were also sent off by Don Robertson.
