Watch: Hundreds of Kate Bush fans gather in Dublin's Fairview Park for fantastic 'Wuthering Heights Day'

Hundreds of Dublin fans dressed as Kate Bush from her music video for the song 'Wuthering Heights' descended on Fairview Park on Saturday to celebrate the singer's birthday.

Wuthering Heights Day Dublin 2022, also known as The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever, took place at Fairview Park in the Irish capital, returning after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event celebrated Bush's 1978 debut single and saw fans recreate her iconic dance from the music video, while wearing similarly striking red outfits.

Bush's debut single 'Wuthering Heights' was inspired by the novel of the same name written by Charlotte Bronte, and her song chronicles the turbulent relationship between leading man Heathcliff and his longtime love Catherine Earnshaw. Wuthering Heights day is a hugely popular event, with several similar gatherings taking place all over the world annually on July 30.

Brilliant footage of Kate Bush fans enjoying themselves at Saturday's event in Fairview Park was shared on Facebook by Wuthering Heights Day Dublin 2022. The event was organised by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis, with participants paying a €5 registration fee that covered insurance and additional costs.

This year the fantastic event raised over €3,000 raised for Women's Aid, which works to stop domestic violence against women and children. Kate Bush wrote her debut song 'Wuthering Heights' when she was just 18 years old, and it reached No. 1 in several countries, including Britain and Ireland in 1978.

Meanwhile, after enjoying a highly successful career, Bush recently saw a resurgence in popularity when her iconic song 'Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)' was recently featured in season 4 of Stranger Things on Netflix. The track was hails from her 1985 record 'Hounds of Love' , and the hit even enjoyed several weeks at Number 1 in the UK and Irish charts, delighting Bush who thanked her dedicated fans as the song broke records by reaching the coveted number one spot 36 years after its initial release.

The organisers of the Wuthering Heights Day Dublin 2022 thanked all the Cathys who turned out for Saturday's event, and have also said that they hope that the popular event will be back again next year in 2023.
