The Rams’ backfield just got a little bit more explosive thanks to the selection of Ole Miss running back Zach Evans in the sixth round. He was a big-play weapon on college, averaging 6.5 yards per carry last season to rank 10th in the FBS. Despite only carrying the ball 144 times, he still nearly topped 1,000 yards rushing (936) and scored nine touchdowns on the ground with one touchdown reception.
Evans was viewed as an underrated running back prospect in this class, but he has the makeup of a starter with his size and breakaway speed. NFL.com even compared him to Melvin Gordon, which is some high praise.
Check out highlights from his junior season at Ole Miss last year, which included multiple long runs for the Rebels.
