Just when fans were starting to doubt Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot, he pulled off a major trade for a much-needed edge rusher. Atlanta sent a third-round pick to New England for outside linebacker Matthew Judon.
The 32-year-old had been at a contract standoff with the Patriots entering the final year of his deal. The Falcons reportedly outbid numerous other teams, including the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans, to acquire Judon on Wednesday evening.
After doing little to upgrade the pass rush over the offseason, head coach Raheem Morris now has some firepower to work with on defense and a quarterback to lead his offense this season.
Judon has 66.5 sacks and 165 total QB hits over his eight-year NFL career, including 32 sacks over the last three seasons in New England. Check out Judon’s best plays from his time with the Patriots below, courtesy of the Falcons’ social media team:
