We love street food, but somewhere the hygiene concern restricts us from indulging in lip-smacking delicacies like Pani Puri, Chaat, Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, and so on.
The most recent video doing rounds on social media has again raised concerns that how far street foods are safe and hygienic?
In the viral video from Guwahati, a street vendor can be seen mixing urine in pain puri that was to be served to the customers. The video has left the internet disgusted. Take a look at the video:
The golgappa vendor in the 20-second video can be seen urinating in a mug and then pouring it with the water to be served to the customers. After peeing, the vendor used the same utensil to serve the food. Also, he didn't even wash his hands.
According to reports, the vendor's stall is in the Athgaon area of Guwahati and as soon as the video went viral, he was arrested and local police assured strict action against him.
This is not the first time when street vendors have been caught in such acts. In 2017, Chetan Nanji Marvadi, a pani puri vendor of Gujarat was found doing a similar act and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. And in 2020, another pani puri seller in Mumbai's Kolhapur was caught mixing toilet water in pani puri.
