Matt Doherty was sent off for Ireland as their damaging defeat in Athens descended into ugly scenes in stoppage time.
Ireland lost their opening game against France and with the Netherlands also in Group B, they travelled to Greece needing a win to stand any chance of qualifying for Euro 2024. But despite Nathan Collins canceling out Anastasios Bakasetas' opener, Giorgos Masouras struck early in the second half to condemn Stephen Kenny's team to a damaging defeat.
Tensions boiled over as full-time approached and it was Michael Obafemi's challenge on Greek sub Taxiarchis Fountas that sparked momentary bedlam. Both sets of players clashed as tensions hit fever pitch and Tottenham defender Doherty was seen getting in the referee's face. He appeared not to take kindly to that and Doherty was shown red meaning he'll miss their clash with Gibraltar in Dublin. You can watch all the bedlam in the video below.
