It might not have been the prettiest win of their 2021-22 NBA season to date, but it was a win for the Boston Celtics nonetheless, with the Celtics able to clamp down on defense late while finding their way to the basket on the other end as the beat the Detroit Pistons — the only team that has defeated them in their last 12 games — 113 – 104.
The game was a low-scoring defensive affair with plenty of questionable calls in both directions (one even resulting in the ejection of Detroit wing Hamidou Diallo) with the Pistons showing they are game to fight for a win even with one of the worst records in the league. But unlike in their last meeting, this time Boston managed to hold their composure, perhaps less distracted with All-Star week now firmly in their rear-view mirror.
