The Houston Texans had their introductory press conference for new coach Lovie Smith interrupted by a fire alarm on Tuesday.
As general manager Nick Caserio was answering a question about the Brian Flores lawsuit and its impact on their coaching search, a fire alarm went off, which disrupted Caserio’s answers and subsequent questions.
Last year, when the Texans had their press conference to introduce David Culley as their coach, the press conference was in the media workroom over Zoom with Caserio and Culley separated by about 20 feet. Chairman Cal McNair was in another room entirely.
Texans fans are hopeful the fire alarm is a harbinger for the havoc Smith’s defense will bring to the league, not an emblem for where the organization is after two straight double-digit losing seasons.
A spokesperson with the Texans confirmed there was no fire.
