There was a lot of anticipation heading into Week 1 surrounding Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Daniels lived up to the hype, but there were also several plays he’d probably like to have back. Daniels completed 17 of 24 passes for 184 yards. He also rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on 16 rushing attempts.
The Commanders’ passing offense struggled as a whole, with everything close to the line of scrimmage. Daniels did have wide receiver Terry McLaurin open for a would-be touchdown, but he overthrew him.
After the game, Daniels was honest when asked about his performance.
“I grade myself hard,” Daniels said after Sunday’s game. “We didn’t win. I’m a competitor. I like to win, but overall it went well, pretty well.”
That’s the answer you want to hear from Daniels.

Quick thoughts:
-The scrambles were as advertised. Pure gold for fantasy.
-Did it on 23.5% of his dropbacks, the 6th highest rate in a game for any QB since beginning of 2022.

There were a lot of splash plays from Daniels and several other plays he’d like to have back. Next week, Daniels and the Commanders face NFC East rival, the New York Giants.
