By now most fans and analysts are starting to see the vision behind why Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens traded veteran shooting guard Josh Richardson and wing Romeo Langford for San Antonio Spurs guard Derrick White, with his passing, defense, and even shooting helping the team continue its league-longest winning streak.
But the Celtics paid a substantial price in terms of assets to land the San Antonio player, doling out not only Richardson and Langford but also handed over a 2022 first-round draft pick and a 2028 first-round pick swap to get the trade across the finish line in a move some are calling an overpay.
Did the Celtics spend too much to get their guy? Or was it just the cost of doing business in the NBA of today?
The hosts of the CLNS Media podcast “Celtics Beat” Evan Valenti and Adam Kaufman recently debated this question on a recent podcast — check out the clip embedded above to get their takes on if Boston overspent on the Derrick White trade at the deadline.
