It’s safe to say the 2023 season didn’t go the way Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin would have liked.
The fifth-year wideout finished the season with 79 receptions for 1,002 yards and four touchdowns. On the surface, those numbers look good, but it took Washington forcing the ball to McLaurin on its last offensive play to get him over 1,000 yards.
Don’t blame McLaurin. The offense, under first-year offensive coordinator Eric Bieneimy, was a disaster at times. Pass protection was an issue, Bieniemy rarely tried to run the ball, and young quarterback Sam Howell battled sacks and turnovers.
The calm and thoughtful McLaurin appeared frustrated at times. Who could blame him? To make matters worse, the Commanders finished 4-13 and lost their final eight games.
Still, McLaurin managed to go over 1,000 yards for the fourth consecutive year, which put him in some exclusive company.
What was your favorite McLaurin play of the 2023 season? His touchdown catch against Denver was elite — the throw from Howell and the route and catch from McLaurin.
