Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels continues to impress. The No. 2 overall pick is battling Marcus Mariota for the starting quarterback job this season but has thoroughly outperformed the veteran since training camp began last week.
While there were some miscommunications early in camp with his wide receivers—normal at this time of year—things have changed this week. Daniels had what many believe was his best practice of camp on Tuesday.
The Commanders were off on Wednesday but hit the practice fields again on Thursday. Daniels picked right up where he left off. And good news: He and star wide receiver Terry McLaurin appear to be developing chemistry with each passing day.
During Thursday’s practice, Daniels threw a deep pass to McLaurin, who was covered by Emmanuel Forbes and Quan Martin, that was completed for what would have been a considerable gain.

What a throw from Daniels.
McLaurin didn’t catch many deep passes last season for various reasons. However, deep passing remains an elite part of his game, and Daniels was known for his deep-ball accuracy in college.
The Daniels-to-McLaurin connection could be fun in 2024.
