WATCH: Commanders DT Jonathan Allen picks up first career interception

The Washington Commanders may be struggling to move the football consistently on offense, but their defense is playing pretty well.

In their Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears, the Commanders sacked Chicago quarterback Justin Fields twice on the first drive. After a Washington three-and-out, the Bears were moving the ball down the field when a Fields’ pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage by Washington defensive end Efe Obada.

The ball hung in the air for what felt like forever when Washington defensive tackle Jonathan Allen stood under it like a punt returner and came away with his first career NFL interception.

Check it out:

Washington’s defense had an outstanding goal-line stand on a later possession when linebacker Cole Holcomb filled the gap to stop Chicago running back Khalil Herbert and keep the game scoreless, forcing a turnover on downs.

Unfortunately for the Commanders, their offense has been unable to get anything going, and the game remains scoreless into the second quarter.

Allen’s interception was only Washington’s second takeaway of the season and the first since Week 1.
