It was been a historic start for the defense of the Cleveland Browns who have bought into what Jim Schwartz has been preaching. He has them playing smart, fast, and aggressively and has perfectly melded his player’s skill sets into his scheme and the results speak for themselves.
Former defensive end Chris Long, who played for Schwartz when they won the Super Bowl in Philadelphia, had plenty of praise for this Browns’ defense. He talked about how Schwartz simplifies the calls and lets players play free and not overthink their assignments it’s a true attacking defense.
He would go on to label the defensive line as the perfect storm for Schwartz’s scheme and how it all starts there. He also alluded to the Browns’ defensive backs being better than that Super Bowl team with the Eagles.
Now it is time to continue to build off the success of the first five games but up to this point, Schwartz has this unit playing like the best in the league.
