WATCH: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes finally completes behind-the-back pass in practice

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been perfecting his technique for behind-the-back passes at the team’s training camp and finally completed one of the unorthodox throws at Saturday’s workouts in St. Joseph.

The Chiefs’ official Twitter account posted a video of Mahomes’ incredible accomplishment shortly after it happened on the field at Missouri Western State University.

Skyy Moore can be seen catching this special pass from the reigning MVP, and the misdirection from Mahomes seems to have fooled the defense, as the second-year receiver gained significant yardage after turning upfield with the ball.

It is unclear in the clip if this was a designed play or an act of pure improvisation on the part of the All-Pro quarterback, but either way the simple flick of his wrist was all Mahomes needed to find his target.

The Chiefs’ offense could benefit greatly from effective deception of this magnitude as they look to defend their Super Bowl LVII title in 2023.
