You’ve probably already heard about “Bob the Bobcat” from Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones during his recent appearance on NFL Network. If you watched the latest episode of the franchise, you probably know the story too.
Pranks are a long-time tradition at Chiefs training camp thanks to former players like Dustin Colquitt. Well, this year it was actually the team’s general manager who was behind the fun. Veach had a “hit list” of some Chiefs defenders and sent Sr. Director of Team Security, Brian Shafar, to play a prank on them.
Shafar planted a taxidermied Bobcat and a Bluetooth speaker playing “big cat sounds” in each player’s room as they returned to the dormitories at Missouri Western State University following their day off. The team shared the results of the prank on their TikTok page.

Veterans Travis Kelce and Frank Clark were unphased, but Chris Jones wasn’t so lucky. Rookies George Karlaftis, Trent McDuffie and Leo Chenal all seemed to be pretty startled at first. The best reaction might have come from second-year DB Zayne Anderson, who jumped backward a good five feet from his door after opening it up to find the bobcat. Veach and Shafar better watch out or the pranks could extend their way when the team heads to St. Joseph for training camp next season.
