It is no secret that new Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has long cast a longing eye towards the southwest as he wants the Celtics to play more like the San Antonio Spurs under legendary head coach Gregg Popovich with plenty of ball movement and off-ball activity coupled with fundamentally sound, lockdown defense.
Now, after having robbed a not-small portion of the Popovich coaching tree with new head coach Ime Udoka and assistant Will Hardy to name a few, Boston has also reshaped its roster to play more like the Spurs — including trading for San Antonio guard Derrick White at the 2022 NBA trade deadline.
