The last few weeks have been exciting ones for New Orleans Saints fans. The signings of hometown talent like safety Tyrann Mathieu and wide receiver Jarvis Landry along with a promising draft lass featuring two first-round selections have helped to reengage a fanbase that was concerned about an early patient approach by the team. But the excitement didn’t stop at Saints fans when Landry was signed this past weekend. Even Saints players took time to express their excitement, especially safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
Gardner-Johnson was streaming live on social media when he saw the news. “Damn, we got Jarvis?” exclaimed the Saints safety. “Damn man, we got Jarvis? DA (Dennis Allen) on demon time, Goddamn. DA on some demon shit. DA trying to win now. Okay, I feel you. I feel you, DA. That boy said, ‘Right now!'”
The fourth-year safety’s excitement has certainly been mirrored across the fanbase, and has even been matched by fellow former LSU Tigers like Landry and Mathieu who may want to find their own way back to Louisiana. The Saints have done some great work this offseason to maintain a competitive team despite some losses at key positions. A revamped roster and spirited fan enthusiasm are key pieces for the success the team will look to attain in 2022.
