WATCH: Byron Murphy Jr. picks off his former team

It was a sweet, sweet feeling for both Minnesota Viking fans and cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. on Sunday. The former Arizona Cardinal cornerback had a chance to play his old team in Minnesota and he made the most of it.

Murphy Jr. picked off Kyler Murray at the beginning of the fourth quarter on Sunday’s game between the Cardinals and Vikings. Murray was under duress and threw the ball up for grabs and Murphy Jr. had one of the easier interceptions a defensive back could make.

The Vikings scored a touchdown when Sam Darnold found tight end Johnny Mundt, and Minnesota gained some momentum. Being down 19-13 at home, the Vikings’ defense needed to make a play to give the Minnesota offense another chance, and that’s what Murphy Jr. did.

Murphy Jr. was a second-round pick out of Washington. The Cardinals took him in the 2019 NFL Draft and he played with Arizona from 2019-2022 before he came to the Vikings in 2023.
