Bo Nix just had his best game as a pro.
The Denver Broncos dominated the Carolina Panthers for most of the game en route to a 28-14 win on Sunday. Their rookie quarterback played a pivotal role in their victory. Nix completed 28 of 37 passes, a 75.7% completion rate, for 284 yards and three touchdowns. All five areas of his statistical evening were career highs in his young career.
Which begs the question: Did Sean Payton strike gold with Nix as quarterback? Although it is early to say if it’s an absolute strike, it is safe to say that each week, we are seeing glimpses of the Nix that Payton evaluated while he was a record-breaking quarterback at the University of Oregon. Nix’s 75.7% completion rate Sunday comes close to his 77 percent clip in his redshirt senior season, which happens to be an NCAA record.
