Watch as ex-Rangers ace Sands confronts furious NYCFC fans after dire run

Former Rangers defender James Sands was last night involved in a heated exchange with New York City FC supporters after a dire run of form.

Fans of the MLS club have been left furious with the club without a win in a month and suffering six defeats in their last seven outings.

The torrid run of form continued with the 3-1 loss to Cincinnati last night at home.

And after the match, captain Sands faced up to raging supporters over the nightmare period for the club.

In a video clip lasting just over one minute, supporters can be heard criticising Sands and his team-mates over the recent run of form.

Speaking directly to Sands from the stands, one fan can be heard saying: "We're never going to leave, bro. But this, what you guys are doing it's not enough.

"Speak up, do something about it, we're sick and tired of this. We don't want to be suffering through this."

Another added: "We don't see that effort, James."

Sands, though, defended himself and the NYCFC squad as he insisted no one is happy with the recent run.

"Do you think anyone is happy with that?," he responded. "Just listen to me. No one out there is happy with that. We're f***ing working, okay?"

The supporter then goes on to demand improvement as he stated: "I've been following since Academy, bro. Do you know how much this means to me? And I know how much this means to you.

"I want you guys to understand that we're not here just for the fun of it, right?"

Sands then appeared hurt by comments from the supporters as he responded: "Don't say we don't care, that's f***ing disrespectful."

Other fans continued to shout towards Sands as he returned to the pitch to head up the tunnel, with one adding: "But that's the effort you show!"

And another remarked: "You're not showing effort, bro."
