Villanova signee Cam Whitmore, a five-star wing from Maryland, headlines the first freshman class that will play for new head coach Kyle Neptune.
Whitmore, who is listed at 6-foot-6 and 200 pounds, was wildly impressive at Nike Hoop Summit earlier this year. He was 7-for-8 from the field while connecting on 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. As such, he was one of the most highly anticipated players at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship, and he didn’t disappoint.
Some of the stats from his performance were mind-blowingly awesome. The incoming freshman had 23 points in the first half to clinch gold against Brazil — all in just 11 minutes of action. Whitmore ended with the most points ever scored by an American in a gold medal game.

He finished the tournament shooting 10-for-22 (45.4%) on his 3-pointers, an unreal efficiency for someone who also showcased as much athleticism as he did. His overall productivity was absolutely absurd.
