NEW DELHI: That Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are great buddies is an open secret. The two played together for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for years.
On the occasion of Kohli's 35th birthday on Sunday, the former South Africa captain wished the Indian batting great and promised to give him a hug.
And true to his words, AB de Villiers did indeed meet Kohli ahead of the India-South Africa World Cup match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to pass on his wishes.
The two batting greats are seen hugging and chatting for a few minutes in the video shared on social media.
In the match, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat against South Africa. Both teams are already through to the semifinals and are at the first and the second spot respectively.
