April 13--Before he starred on "Breaking Bad," Aaron Paul paid the bills by appearing in commercials, including a Juicy Fruit ad that provided a comfortable living for nearly two years.
"It's one commercial but there's no dialogue in it, so they were able to sell the commercial to multiple countries," Paul told Conan O'Brien during Tuesday's episode of his TBS talk show. "And so I would get residuals every 13 weeks. When they stopped playing that commercial, it was just such a loud reality check. Oh my god, I need to get a job."

Juicy Fruit is a brand of the Chicago-based Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., which is a subsidiary of Mars. It's unclear when the ad aired.
"It is a weird ad," O'Brien said.
"My pants fly off," Paul said.
"Yeah, I don't really know what it has to do with gum," O'Brien said before showing the ad and pointing out "sexual undertone."
Paul, 36, stars in the Kevin Hart comedy "Central Intelligence," due out June 17. "Conan" airs 10 p.m. weeknights.
