San Francisco 49ers rookie Nick Bosa is out for the preseason with an ankle injury.
Niners GM John Lynch told KNBR, a Bay Area radio station, that Bosa suffered a “significant” ankle sprain that will sideline him for the preseason Thursday morning. Their first game is Saturday against the Cowboys in Santa Clara.
This is Bosa’s second notable injury since he was drafted in April. During his second-ever practice with the 49ers in May, the defensive end suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out of OTAs.
Does the ankle sprain confirm fears that Bosa is just as injury-prone as his older brother, Joey? Not for Lynch.
“We don’t feel he is injury prone,” Lynch said during the interview. “Yesterday he had a large human being fall on his leg while he was engaged with someone else.”
