Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson is in stable condition after being shot in an attempted robbery. According to Mike Garafolo, who covers the league for the NFL Network, Robinson was the victim of an attempted robbery, and was shot during the attempt:

JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports that Robinson was shot multiple times.
Commanders rookie RB Brian Robinson has been shot multiple times in robbery attempt, per @nbcwashington. Sources tell me it’s non life threatening. Much more to come.

More, per Finlay:
The incident occurred in Northeast Washington on the 1000 block of H Street, D.C. police told NBC4. The suspects tried to take Robinson Jr.’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, upon which a scuffle ensued and the shots were fired. Robinson Jr. was taken to an area hospital following the incident.
And from Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network:
Dustin Metzger, Washington D.C. police communications director on Brian Robinson Jr. shooting: 'We responded to the 1000 Block H St Ne in DC where we located an adult male suffering from two gun shot wounds. It appears he was a victim of an attempted robbery or a carjacking.'

From ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
When police arrived on the scene they located Robinson, who, according to [Dustin] Sternbeck, [the director of communications for the Metro Police Department in Washington, D.C], was suffering from “a couple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities.” He was transported immediately to a local hospital. Sternbeck said police have identified two potential suspects.
Sternbeck said police recovered a firearm a short distance from where the incident occurred. He said authorities are not yet sure if Robinson was the victim of a carjacking or just an armed robbery attempt.
The Commanders selected Robinson in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft out of Alabama. It was expected that Robinson would take on a big role for the Washington offense this season. He did not play in Washington’s final preseason game, a 17-15 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, but in the Commanders’ first two preseason games, he gained 57 yards and scored a touchdown on 14 carries, impressing coaches to the point that he seemed to usurp Antonio Gibson as the team’s primary ballcarrier.
We will have more on this developing story as it becomes available.
