There was little doubt heading into the preseason that the Washington Commander’s second overall pick in Jayden Daniels would eventually take over the reigns as the starter. Entering the third and final week of the preseason the Commanders coaching staff went ahead and made that assumption official as Daniels was named the starter for week one of the regular season.

The former Heisman winner has been impressive in every part of the process since being drafted. From his impressive training camp, to showing elite tools in his preseason appearances, it has been clear early on that Daniels is the best quarterback on Washington’s roster. Daniels beat out established veteran Marcus Mariota in what was ultimately more of a hypothetical quarterback battle than anything else.
Daniels will have the chance to dazzle early and have plenty of confidence doing so given how much this Washington coaching staff has praised him. We should see plenty of success from this young quarterback who looks to bring over his immense success from LSU to the NFL level, and Daniels should be one of the betting favorites to be the offensive rookie of the year.
