Married At First Sight‘s (MAFS) Jacqueline Burfoot is definitely one of the most polarising characters of this season. She claims to have read at least 2000 books, is a certified yoga instructor, a double degree holder and more. However, it appears that one of the things on her extensive resume may not be what it seems.
Jacqueline — known as Jacqui on the show — has captivated fans not only with her hot and cold relationship with MAFS groom Ryan Donnelly, but she has continuously jotted down all of the things that she has achieved.
One of the major standouts in her resume was that she held the title of Miss New Zealand.
“I used to be a model and was even Miss New Zealand,” she shared in Episode 7 during the daunting photo ranking challenge where hubby Ryan placed her third.
But despite her claims on the show, it appears that Jacqui might not be the Miss New Zealand we’re all thinking.

Was Jacqueline Burfoot win Miss New Zealand?
While she did represent beautiful Aotearoa it was not the Miss Universe pageant. According to Chattr, Jacqui was Miss New Zealand for the Miss Yacht International competition.
In 2012, it was television host Talia Benett who held the title of Miss New Zealand.

According to a website under the domain Miss Danmark, Jacqui did not place in the 2013 beauty competition with Miss Kyrgyzstan nabbing first, Miss China placing second and Miss Macedonia in third.

Despite not ranking up in the comp, it appears that Jacqui had a blast as she was posting pics of her time at the competition alongside her fellow peers in China’s Sanya, Hainan, where the competition was held.

Look, it’s a stretch for Jacqui, but at least she was Miss New Zealand for something!
