The Call of Duty Warzone 2 Reloaded update will be going live this week, and you can expect lots of new content, along with some much-needed weapon rebalancing.
It's already been a month since the second season of Warzone 2 launched, which means it's time for the mid-season update. Season 2 brought a slew of changes with it, including the first Resurgence Map for the sequel. Players had been lamenting the loss of the smaller maps when they transitioned over from the original Warzone, so Ashika Island's debut was a welcome one.
We also saw some significant gameplay changes roll out as Raven Software delivered on its promises with the return of the 1v1 Gulag, as well as the 3-Plate Armor Vest becoming the default for all players. Combat Records were also introduced for the first time in Season 2; a feature that was first promised ahead of the Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded update, but was unexpectedly delayed.
And although there's already been a fair amount of weapon rebalancing, many Call of Duty players are hoping for a major meta change for the new season. Here's everything we're expecting to see from the Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded update, including the release time, new content and more.
Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded: release time
The Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded update is going live on Wednesday, March 15 at 4pm GMT / 12pm ET / 9am PT (accounting for Daylight Saving Time which hasn't rolled out in the UK just yet). The update time and release date has been confirmed in a blog post on the Call of Duty website.
The Season 2 Reloaded update will be released at the same time for all Warzone 2 players on all platforms including PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Major Warzone 2 content updates are typically available to preload a few hours before they're actually live, but due to their often large file sizes, you may be waiting a while before you can jump in, depending on your internet speed.
Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded: gameplay changes
Call of Duty devs have confirmed that there will be several global weapon balances for Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded, with a number of weapons expected to receive buffs or nerfs, depending on their effectiveness in Al Mazrah and Ashika Island.
Without the full patch notes, it's impossible to say which weapons will be part of this rebalancing process, but Infinity Ward tweeted that the much-maligned KV Broadside shotgun, which is incredibly overpowered right now – particularly with the Dragon's Breath rounds attached – will be getting a damage reduction. Hallelujah!
Meanwhile, Raven Software has also confirmed in a tweet that the Bomb Drone will be completely disabled following the launch of Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded, with the devs looking to "explore additional balance options for this Killstreak".
And after launching Ashika Island with Quads as the only squad size (WHY?), Activision has already confirmed that all Resurgence squad sizes will be included in each weekly playlist for the remainder of the season. So you can finally say goodbye to the randoms.
Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded: St Patrick's Day and new content
As with every major update, Warzone 2 players will be able to enjoy a whole new wave of content in Season 2 Reloaded, from weapon blueprints, bundles, skins, calling cards and more.
And the good news is, there will be several free (yes, free!) items for every Warzone 2 player to claim during this new season, to celebrate the three-year anniversary of Call of Duty: Warzone. Activision is promising that these items will be themed around "maps, seasons, and memories made" since the game first launched on March 10, 2020.
There will also be several new operators, including Shredder, one of the main antagonists from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe, who will boast a custom skin, unique weapons, vehicle skins and a weapon charm.
Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded will also be diving head first into the St Patrick's Day festivities, with the addition of Padraig’s Pandemonium Bundle, which features green tracer rounds, whilst the rivers of Al Mazrah will apparently flow green too – and there's a promise of a rainbow! Not gonna lie, that looks pretty cool.
