The Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded is dropping real soon, in what will be the title's first big content update since launch, and the patch notes are here already.
The Call of Duty: Warzone 2 mid-season update is bringing some big changes with it, with our personaly highlight being the nerfing of AI in Strongholds and Black Sites. Of course, there's been some weapon rebalancing, which will undoubtedly flip the current Warzone 2.0 loadout meta on its head. And in keeping with the World Cup 2022 theme that saw three limited-time Operator Bundles, a new event-exclusive Mini Royale mode is on the way dubbed Warzone Cup.
There are also two new Operators – one of which has a very festive name – and a new weapon. Here's everything you need to know about the Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 Season 1 Reloaded mid-season update.
Warzone 2.0 Season 1 Reloaded release time
Activision has confirmed that the Call of Duty Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded mid-season update will be available today, Wednesday, December 14 with the update going live at 6pm GMT / 1pm ET / 10am PT for all platforms. That is of course, unless something goes wrong, but all being well, that's when you'll be able to download it.
Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded – everything we know so far
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Reloaded content update will feature new maps, new weapons, new operators and a new Special Ops game mode too, but not all of these new additions will be relevant for Warzone 2.0. Still, we still have a few juicy nuggets of information which are very much relevant.
First off, the battle royale mode will be getting a brand new weapon, with the Chimera Assualt Rifle set to be added in the mid-season update. A blog post on the official Call of Duty website briefly describes the weapon, revealing that it will be adept at close-quarters combat. You'll be able to unlock it via a Store Bundle or by completing a weapon unlock challenge.
There will also be two brand-new operators added to Warzone 2.0 on December 14, the first of which is named Klauss. The festively-named operator is a member of Denmark's elite special forces, who has natural night vision and carries an unusual amount of chocolate with him. How this will be relevant in Warzone 2.0, we're not sure!
Gaz will also be added as a Warzone 2.0 operator in the next update, who played a large role in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 single-player campaign as Captain John Price's right-hand man.
In other news, Modern Warfare 2 Special Ops will be getting a new game mode called Raids. The first episode is called Raid Episode 1: Atomgrad, and will involve a mix of stealth, action and puzzle solving, in what will be a trios-only experience.
There's also a new map coming for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, with a blog post on the official Call of Duty website confirming that Shipment will be arriving mid-season. The map is described as being ultra-compact and is set in a cargo ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded – likely gameplay changes
Weapon rebalancing updates were common in previous content updates for the original Call of Duty: Warzone, and we expect to see something similar in the first big Warzone 2.0 update.
The Warzone 2.0 meta right now involves weapons like the RPK, TAQ-56, Fennec 45, P890 and the SP-X 80, so we expect these weapons to receive nerfs in the Season 1 Reloaded update. Activision tends to favour players being able to use a wide range of weapons effectively in the battle royale mode, rather than just sticking to a select few, so we also expect weapons that aren't currently the meta, such as the M16, Bas-P and even the FSS Hurricane, to receive buffs.
There's also been a lot of feedback from the community about the time-to-kill, or TTK, in Warzone 2.0 and how it's slightly little too long, so this might also get tweaked in the mid-season update
