Warwick Davis would be up for a second series of Welsh-filmed Willow

Hollywood actor Warwick Davis has said that he is "excited" at the possibility of a season two of Disney+'s Willow. The series, which premiered earlier this week, serves as a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name.

"Jon Kasdan [Willow's showrunner] is such a prolific writer, his mind never stops. So he keeps coming up to me saying: 'Hey, Warwick I have this great idea. We could do this, that and the other. I go: "Okay Jon, shall we just see what happens with this one first?'" Warwick said during a press junket for the first season.

He added to Digital Spy: "But I'm excited to go back. Of course, I would. But let's just see. If the audience supports us with this then I'd be happy to put the wig on again and get my staff out and start doing some more magic." The series has received generally positive reviews so far.

The series sees Warwick's character, a Nelwyn sorcerer, lead a party to rescue the twin brother of a princess. The official synopsis for Willow reads: "An unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world." The show also stars Spider-Man star, Tony Revolori, Ellie Bamber and Han Solo: A Star Wars Story's Erin Kellyman.

Filming for Willow, which is now streaming, took place across numerous locations in Wales and with the release of its first two episodes, the series has already shown the world some of the beautiful sights that our country has to offer. You can read more about some of these here.

The series has been supported by Creative Wales – the Welsh Government agency that supports the creative industries in Wales – which funded both the production of the show and training programmes for Welsh creatives behind-the-scenes. Creative Wales has brought £155.6m of production spend into the Welsh Economy since 2020 and hopes to welcome more of the world’s most iconic franchises to Welsh studios. Willow episodes one and two are available to watch now on Disney+ with new episodes dropping weekly on Wednesdays. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
