Warriors Trade Rumors Swirl, Jimmy Butler, Others Linked To Golden State

The Golden State Warriors are looking to make perhaps one final run before their championship window closes. While they’ve had a solid start to the season, their roster needs an obvious boost if it hopes to compete with the powerhouses in the league. And according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the team is actively inquiring about multiple players as possible trade targets.

The Warriors had one of the best starts to the season of any team in the NBA this year. They jumped out to a surprise 12-3 record, and even spent a few days as the first place team in the Western Conference. But they’ve since lost 6 of 8 contests, and haven’t been getting the same production from their deep bench that they were early on.

Warriors Engaged In Trade Talks, According To Shams

But they can perhaps use some of that depth as assets in a potential trade. In an article posted by Charania on Tuesday, he outlined some of the possibilities for Golden State.

The first involves a trio of players from Brooklyn. Charania mentioned that the Nets have had exploratory conversations regarding Cam Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Dennis Schröder as they look to offload some money after a 10-14 start. The report mentions the Warriors in specific, saying that their front office has interest in all three players.

Jimmy Butler was another topic in the article. The Miami Heat are apparently listening to offers for their 35-year-old star wing, and Butler has a list of teams that he would be interested in playing for. Two teams from his native Texas made the cut (Rockets, Mavericks), and the other was the Warriors.

Golden State Now Willing To Trade Kuminga, Podziemski?

The hold up would be whether Golden State is willing to mortgage some of their future in order to bring in a win-now piece. It seemed as though they were unwilling to do so during the summer, when it was widely reported that they were reluctant to add guys like Jonathan Kuminga or Brandin Podziemski in any trade packages.

But perhaps due to their hot start to the season, the Warriors may be willing to go all-in to extend their current championship window. In true win-now fashion, Golden State is showing interest in guys aged 35, 30, 30, and 28, and would have to give up guys who haven’t reached 25 yet.

Draft picks would certainty be included as well, especially if dealing with the Heat and Pat Riley. The Warriors have plenty, owning their first round pick in all but one of their drafts between now and 2031.
