Warriors’ Steve Kerr enters health and safety protocol, Mike Brown to coach in Game 4

Before he officially takes the whistle for the Sacramento Kings, Mike Brown will have to hold down the Golden State Warriors’ sidelines in the postseason against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Prior to Game 4 on Monday at San Francisco’s Chase Center, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr entered the league’s health and safety protocol after testing positive for COVID-19.

On the same day Brown fill the sideline for Kerr, the longtime Warriors assistant was named the next head coach of the Sacramento Kings. Prior to joining the Kings, Brown will finish the remainder of the postseason run with the Warriors.

Brown is no stranger to coaching the Warriors in the playoffs. The soon-to-be head coach of the Kings coached the Warriors to an 11-0 record in the 2017 NBA playoffs after Kerr missed time due to a back injury. Brown has won two championships with the Warriors as an assistant.

Along with Brown, the Warriors will have to lean on proven veterans like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and others against the Grizzlies on Monday without Kerr.

Game 4 between the Warriors and Grizzlies is expected to tip off on Monday at 7 p.m. at Chase Center in San Francisco.
