Warriors’ Steph Curry ejected late vs. Grizzlies for throwing mouthguard

During the final decisive minutes of Wednesday’s contest against the Memphis Grizzlies, a rare moment happened for Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry.

With the Warriors leading by two points late in the game, Jordan Poole launched a long distance miss early in the shot clock following a Golden State offensive rebound. As the team made their way down the court for defense, Curry appeared frustrated.

Curry quickly threw his mouthpiece, causing an ejection.

Although his reaction wasn’t towards the officials, throwing his mouthguard triggers an ejection by rule. Curry was hit with a technical and left the game with 1:14 remaining in the game and the Warriors leading by two points.

Despite Curry’s ejection, the Warriors were able to hold on and Poole was able to get redemption before the buzzer. With the game tied, Poole finished a tough layup on an inbound pass from the baseline to win the Warriors the game, 122-120.

Wednesday’s contest marked the third ejection of Curry’s career. All of Curry’s ejections have been related to throwing his mouthguard.
