SAN FRANCISCO — The Warriors needed relief after a grueling road trip spiraled into a five-game losing streak. The Clippers were just the right salve.
The Warriors notched a breezy 112-97 win against Los Angeles on Tuesday night at Chase Center, snapping the losing streak in their fourth and final game against their division foe.
Without Draymond Green, Golden State’s defense has been rudderless and penetrable, leaving the Warriors vulnerable to high-scoring performances from top Western Conference contenders. The Warriors gave up 30-point first quarters in six straight games entering Tuesday’s home game.
They held a Clippers without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to 21 points in the first quarter and 36 points in the first half.
Jordan Poole continued his hot streak into Tuesday’s game, going off for 20 points with four 3-pointers on five attempts.
Klay Thompson’s mini slump continued through the first half, where he shot 4-for-11 from the field and 1-for-5 from 3. But he found some rhythm in the second half and finished with 20 points.
Jonathan Kuminga flashed some athletic dunks, including a reverse slam in the first quarter.
Steph Curry’s return to a variation of his old rotation pattern, resting once per half — save for the final minute of the fourth quarter, when head coach Steve Kerr subbed in Chris Chiozza and Quinndary Weatherspoon with the Warriors up 15.
