The Golden State Warriors have a few days off before resuming the regular season, and we could see some major shifts in the standings before Golden State takes the court again on Thursday.
The Warriors currently hold the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference with three games left to play, and are one game ahead of Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks.
The Warriors are three games clear of the No. 5 Denver Nuggets, and 3.5 games ahead of the Utah Jazz. This means the worst position the Warriors can finish the season in is fifth. The Warriors hold a tiebreaker over the Jazz, but would lose a tiebreaker against the Mavericks or Nuggets.
The Jazz, meanwhile, are only 1.5 games ahead of the Timberwolves in the race for the No. 6 seed.

Warriors’ projected playoff opponent
If the playoffs were to begin today, as the No. 3 seed, the Warriors would face the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs. Golden State won the season series with Utah, 3-1.
