Warriors land Baylor’s Jeremy Sochan in Rookie Wire’s NBA mock draft 2.0

While most of the focus around the Golden State Warriors has been on a push back to the postseason, it’s never too early to keep an eye on the NBA draft.

Although Bob Myers and Steve Kerr likely won’t have a pick at the top of the draft to acquire a prospect like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga or Moses Moody, there will still be players available that can help extend the Warriors’ window when they hit the clock.

Before the All-Star break, Rookie Wire dropped their mock draft 2.0 that included three picks for the Warriors.

With the No. 29 overall pick in Rookie Wire’s mock draft 2.0, the Warriors landed Baylor’s Jeremy Sochan. According to Rookie Wire’s Cody Taylor, Sochan is a forward that can impact the game in a variety of ways.

Via Rookie Wire:

Sochan has become an excellent defender this season, something that would fit into the defensive philosophy instilled by the Warriors. He has the size to handle the physicality and has shown an ability to shoot from beyond the arc. Averaging 7.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, two assists and 1.1 steals, Sochan affects games in a variety of ways, an ability teams may covet at this point of the draft. Some believe he is not a sure-fire one-and-done prospect, but that could change with more strong performances this season.

In 17 games with Baylor, the 6-foot-9 18-year-old is averaging 8.3 points on 50.5% shooting from the floor with 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest. In a recent battle against Alabama, Sochan notched a career-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor with eight boards, two steals and an assist in 32 minutes.
