Warriors-Kings playoff tickets on track to be most expensive first-round seat ever

Klay Thompson was excited to learn the Warriors would play the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the playoffs — and it’s not just because it’s a favorable travel scenario for both teams.

“That’s going to be fun,” Thompson said Sunday afternoon. “First time in NBA history, it’s going to be really special.”

But fans are going to have to fork over some serious cash just to get inside the building for the series opener next weekend.

Ticket prices for the first postseason meeting between the Warriors and Kings has reportedly skyrocketed to historic highs, with some saying it could be the most expensive ticket for the first round of the NBA playoffs ever.

Prices on ticket broker website TickPick for Game 1 at Golden 1 Center on Saturday start at $497 as of Monday afternoon. If that price holds up, Front Office Sports reported that would make Saturday’s opener the most expensive first-round NBA playoff game on record.

The price ticks down to $333 on TickPick for Game 2, while the get-in price at Chase Center for Game 3 on the ticket resale site starts at $254.

The most expensive ticket for the Kings’ first playoff game in 16 years, which is located at floor level near center court, is going for $42,157 on TickPick.

This best-of-seven series between the two Northern California teams should foster an electric atmosphere.

“The Kings got great fans. We got great fans. Mike [Brown has] got them boys playing together and hard,” Thompson said. “That would be really cool just for Northern California, which is a basketball hotbed at the moment. And it would be nice for the travel. That’d be very nice.”
