Warriors’ Jordan Poole finishes regular season with top free throw percentage in NBA

The 2021-22 regular season saw the breakout of Golden State Warriors third-year guard Jordan Poole.

The 22-year-old averaged a career-best 18.5 points on 44.8% shooting from the field with 4.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 30 minutes per contest. Without Steph Curry to end the season, Poole pushed the Warriors down the final stretch, scoring 20 or more points in 18 of the last 20 games.

On the way to a potential Most Improved Player run, Poole finished the 2021-22 regular season with the league’s top free-throw shooting percentage at 92.5% from the line.

Poole averaged 3.5 trips to the free-throw line during the season. The Michigan product drilled five or more free throws in 20 games. Against the New York Knicks, Poole buried 13 free throws on 13 attempts from the line. Poole drilled double-figure free throws twice during the 2021-22 campaign.

Curry finished one spot behind Poole with a 92.3% mark from the free-throw line.

With Curry’s status for the first round of the postseason still in question, the Warriors will have to continue to heavily lean on Poole’s scoring ability against defending Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
