Warriors insider shares details on Warriors trade deadline plans

With the February 8 trade deadline just over a week away, time is running out for the Golden State Warriors to make a move. Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Joe Lacob could choose to stand pat, considering the current energy levels and commitment on show from the Warriors roster, or they could look to improve on the margins.

The Athletic’s Anthony Slater recently joined “The Morning Roast” on 95.7 The Game to discuss his current knowledge of how things are shaping up for the Warriors in terms of potential trade moves. Slater did share that Golden State is “tampering expectations.”

“They’re trapped a little bit,” Slater said. “First of all, even they’re 20-24. There is absolutely no incentive to tank…We know the Warriors are not going to do that…They might be active, although they’re kind of tampering expectations on that. There’s contracts to move, but I’m not sure what’s there that’s going to significant;y change their situation more than internal growth from the guys that were struggling.”

The Warriors have multiple young talents at their disposal. They also have Chris Paul‘s contract that will be non-guaranteed next season. There are trade options available for the front office to explore.

However, Golden State could choose to stand pat. They may want to see how the team looks once everybody is healthy and is chasing playoff qualification throughout the second half of the season. If things don’t work out, Dunleavy Jr. could look to make some bigger changes in the summer.
