Warriors get huge boost as Draymond Green gets set to return

Draymond Green is set to return to the Golden State Warriors rotation after a 12-game absence. The veteran forward had been serving an indefinite suspension due to multiple on-court altercations throughout the season. Green has been working to meet targets the league and the Warriors franchise set during his time away from the game.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, green has been “undergoing counseling for several weeks” and “holding progress meetings” with the league office and the Warriors. He appears to have shown enough progress to return to the court.

“The NBA has reinstated Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green after 12-game suspension, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Green has been undergoing counseling for several weeks along with holding progress meetings with the league and Warriors,” Charania reported via X, formerly known as Twitter, “…All sides have been pleased with Green’s progress through receiving help over his indefinite suspension from Dec. 14-Jan. 5. Regular check-ins among the parties are expected to continue even after Green returns to action soon.”

Green has played in 15 games this season, averaging 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists, shooting 49% from the field and 42.9% from 3-point range. The veteran forward’s defensive versatility and on-court leadership will significantly boost the Warriors’ rotation, as they have been missing his ability to orchestrate and galvanize the roster.

Green’s first game back from suspension could come against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday (Jan. 7) or against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday (Jan. 10.) Regardless of when he returns, his presence on the court will make Golden State a better, more robust team.
