Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins ranked 53rd-best player on top 100 list

Andrew Wiggins is three spots away from cracking the top 50 players in the NBA. Every year, as we traverse the offseason desert in September, player rankings flood the NBA ecosystem. Some focus on where players stand by position. Others focus on a specific skill, such as shooting or rebounds.

Yet, CBS Sports has become known for focusing on which players reside in the top 100 of the league. This year, Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins is listed as the 53rd-best player in the NBA, representing a 10-place dip from last year, when he was ranked 43rd.

Here’s what CBS Sports had to say about Wiggins:

“Before missing the final chunk of last season to deal with a family issue, Wiggins was in the midst of the best all-around year of his career, putting up 17 points and five rebounds per game on a career-high 40% 3-point shooting. Building off of a tremendous 2022 title run, Wiggins continued to relish defending the opposition’s best perimeter player on a nightly basis.

The prototypical “3-and-D-plus” wing, Wiggins’ athleticism and timing make him one of the best cutters in the game, and he can still get you a late-clock iso bucket when the offense breaks down. Though he may not be the alpha dog some expected when he was drafted first overall a decade ago, Wiggins has developed into one of the most valuable role players in the NBA.”

Wiggins struggled to replicate the performance level we saw from him in 2022, in part due to missing 25 games due to family issues. However, if the three-and-D forward can bounce back in the coming season, he will quickly re-establish himself as an important cog in the Warriors championship puzzles.

Do that, and this time next year, Wiggins will likely be considered a top 50 player in the league again.
